CalcBoard is a multi-panel calculator app for iPhone and iPad, offered by SolutionFlare. This policy explains what CalcBoard does with your data. The honest answer is: almost nothing, because we designed it that way.
The short version: CalcBoard contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind. Everything you calculate stays on your device. The app connects to the internet for exactly two things: downloading an anonymous configuration file from our server, and processing your optional purchase through Apple. We do not sell or share your data — we don't have it. This describes the current version of the app; if that ever changes, this policy will change first.
1. Who We Are
CalcBoard is developed and published by SolutionFlare. This policy covers the CalcBoard app for iPhone and iPad and this website, calcboard.solutionflare.com.

2. What We Don't Collect
The current version of the app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking software of any kind. Specifically, the current version of CalcBoard does not:
- Collect analytics or usage statistics — we don't know which features you use, how often you open the app, or what you calculate
- Show ads or include any advertising SDK
- Collect crash reports or diagnostic data
- Ask you to create an account — we never ask for your name, email address, or phone number
- Access your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
- Send push notifications
- Use cookies inside the app
- Build or transmit a device fingerprint, advertising identifier, or any other persistent identifier tied to you
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information with anyone, for any purpose, including the "selling" and "sharing" of personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. There is nothing to sell.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
CalcBoard stores the data it needs to work locally on your device only:
- Calculations and history — your expressions, results, bookmarks, and labels, kept in a local database on your device
- Settings and preferences — theme, button style, haptics, default calculator mode
- Panel layouts — how many panels you have open and how they're arranged
- Stored values and variables — entries in the shared value tray
- Purchase status — a cached record of whether you've unlocked premium, kept in the iOS Keychain (Apple's encrypted secure storage)
None of this is ever uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives it and no way to read it. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
If you export your calculation history to CSV, the export is created on your device and goes only where you choose to send it — we never receive a copy.
4. The Two Network Connections the App Makes
The current version of CalcBoard connects to the internet for exactly two purposes. That's the complete list — there are no other network requests in the current version of the app.
4.1 Remote configuration
When you launch the app, it downloads a small configuration file from our web server. This file lets us do things like announce a new version or display a service notice without shipping an app update. The request is a plain, anonymous file download over HTTPS: it contains no identifiers, no account information, and no cookies — nothing that identifies you or your device. If the download fails, the app simply carries on with its built-in defaults.
Like any web request, our server's standard hosting logs may transiently record the requesting IP address. We do not use these logs to identify, profile, or track anyone.
4.2 Purchases
CalcBoard's optional premium unlock is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment; we never see your name, email address, or payment card details.
To verify and restore purchases, the app uses RevenueCat (the Purchases SDK). When you buy or restore the premium unlock, RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt data from Apple and a random, app-generated identifier that is not tied to your identity. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or payment details. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy for details on how each handles this data.
5. This Website
This website (calcboard.solutionflare.com) is a set of static pages. It uses no analytics and sets no cookies. As with virtually any website, our hosting provider and content delivery network may keep standard access logs — typically the visitor's IP address, browser user agent, requested page, and timestamp — for security, abuse prevention, and operational purposes. Those logs are created and retained by the hosting provider under its own policies, generally for a short period, and are outside our direct control; we do not use them to identify or track visitors. If we ever add analytics or cookies to the site, we will update this policy first.
6. Third-Party Services and Links
Apple and RevenueCat are the only third-party services the app relies on. Each processes data as an independent company under its own privacy policy — see Apple's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy. We have configured these services to receive only the minimum data described in Section 4, and we are not responsible for their practices beyond that configuration.
The app and this website may also link to external sites and services we do not operate — for example, App Store pages, or other Solutionflare apps shown in the "More from Solutionflare" section of the app's settings. Following such a link takes you to a destination with its own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. We encourage you to review the policies of any site or service you visit.
7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR and CCPA)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights over your personal data, including access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, and objection. If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
You can exercise any of these rights by emailing calcboard-legal@solutionflare.com. In practice, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete: we hold essentially no personal data about you on any server, because your data lives on your device under your control. That means most access, deletion, and portability requests are satisfied entirely on your device — deleting the app deletes the data it stored. Purchase records are held by Apple under your Apple account and are subject to Apple's own processes. Where a request concerns information we actually hold, we will handle it as applicable law requires.
Where the GDPR requires a legal basis for processing: the anonymous configuration fetch (including any transient IP logging by the server) is based on our legitimate interest in operating and maintaining the app, and purchase validation is based on the performance of our contract with you.
We do not sell or share personal information, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. We do not respond differently to browsers with "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals because we do not track anyone in the first place.
8. Children's Privacy
CalcBoard is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no personal data, there is no mechanism by which a child's personal information could be gathered through it. If you believe a child has somehow provided us personal information, contact us at calcboard-legal@solutionflare.com and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we change how CalcBoard handles data — for example, if a future feature adds a new network connection — we will update this policy before the change ships and revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Changes, including material changes, take effect when the revised policy is posted on this page, as indicated by that date, and your continued use of the app or this website after a revised policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of it. We encourage you to review this page occasionally. Material changes will always be reflected here first.
